Wounaan Indian Arts of the Darien Rainforest of Panama

The Wounaan Indian women who live in the Darien Rainforest of Panama have been weaving baskets for sale for more than two decades. The baskets are made of Chunga palm leaves. Read Understanding and Appreciating the Wounaan Basket to learn more.

The Wounaan Indian men carve animals on Tagua nuts which are found from palm trees grow in the Darien Rainforest.

Native Future is a non-profit organization that helps the Wounaan Indians in various issues such as obtaining the title of the land in the Rainforest.
