SUN Monthly July Issue: Wouaan Basket Weavers-Stitching for Survival
The SUN Monthly is a local newspaper in Eldorado. When the Editor, Linda Braun, walked into Michael Smith Gallery and saw the beautiful Wounaan Indian baskets, she acquired about the basket weavers and learned about the struggles of the Wounaan Indian of the Darien Rainforest of Panama. She immediately proposed that she would like to write a story about these women for her July Issue and would like to use one of the basket weavers for the front cover. She assigned Barbara Gerber to research and assembly the story. The result is the article you can read on the July issue.
