LYNN GIESSOW STAUFFER
LYNN GIESSOW STAUFFER, born in St. Louis, began studying art as a child at John Burroughs School. As a teenager she attended Fine Arts Class at Washington University, winning a first place in the city's Jewel Box Art Show while only in the ninth grade. Her proficiency in art continued to grow through college and into marriage.
During six years in Geneva, Switzerland, she did further study at Les Beaux Arts and also under Robert Tovery. Her paintings received critical notice and were selected by many in the international community, as well as later in California and extensively on the East Coast.
A steady outlet for her artistry has been major annual fund raisers such as those held by the national Junior League in Washington, DC, Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD, both the Museum of Natural History and Shipley School in Philadelphia, PA, and various groups in Greenwich, CT, Cleveland, OH, Lake Forest, IL, Princeton, NJ, Milwaukee, WI, and other cities.
Her varied and highly individual works, including custom designed hooked rugs, pillows and samplers, have been carried in Abercrombie & Fitch, Crossroads of Sports, John Rosselli (to the trade), and Sweet Nellie, all in New York City, as well as by shops in Greenwich, CT, Boston, MA, Woodstock, VT, and various decorators throughout the country.
In addition to extensive work for Ducks Unlimited, Lynn Stauffer's paintings can be found in the homes of the Scripps-Howard news family, the Olins (chemicals), the Foys (Bethlehem Steel), the Dorrances (Campbell Soup), the Brophys (communications), William Sword (investments) and the U.S. Embassy of Belgium for Anne Cox Chambers.
Written up in numerous newspapers and magazines Lynn Stauffer (Trunkline) was listed in the top-ten show vendors of the "Champagne Circuit" of Christmas Boutiques by Town & Country magazine. Her tasteful compositions on canvas, wood and furniture have made here one-of-a-kind creations much sought after and highly prized.
